Introduction

ST’s IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee wireless connectivity modules are a cost-effective and ready-to-use solution for a large range of applications. The SPZB32W series, based on the STM32W RF microcontroller, offers multiple versions that are differentiated in terms of integrated antenna, power transmission, integrated memory or supported IEEE 802.15.4-based protocol stacks.

Further information on the STM32W resources and supported protocol stacks is available on STM website at: http://www.emcu.it/STM32/STM32Wxx/STM32Wxx.html

Module

SPZB32W1x2.1 (Zigbee PRO modules based on the STM32W chipset), to be put in place of x:
A if you want the model with the antenna mounted
C if you want the model with the connector to attach an external antenna.

STM don't support ZigBee, STM will support ZigBee-IP. Please contact your STM local office or SILICA FAE.

SPZB32W1x2.4 (IEEE RF 802.15.4 modules
based on the STM32W chipset), to be put in place of x:
A if you want the model with the antenna mounted
C if you want the model with the connector to attach an external antenna.

SPZB32W1x1.4 (
IEEE RF 802.15.4 long range modules based on the STM32W chipset), to be put in place of x:
A if you want the model with the antenna mounted
C if you want the model with the connector to attach an external antenna.

ATTENTION:
The modules come "empty" no SW is loaded.
The software available to load on the modules can be found here.
Part Number            Description
STSW-STM32039   STM32W108 SimpleMAC firmware
STSW-STM32038   STM32W108 ZigBee RF4CE firmware

The modules have the resources available for your application and are:
GPIO, UART, I2C, ADC, Timers and general purpose I/O are available through the 24 configurable general purpose I/O lines.
The idea is develop application using the resources of the module, obviously, if are not sufficient can be expand with external STM32Fxxx, STM32Lxxx, STM8Sxxx or STM8Lxxx.

Evaluation Boards

The STEVAL-IDZ301V1 (the antenna is mounted, see the image below) or STEVAL-IDZ302V1 (with the connector to attach an external antenna) are a demonstration boards of the SPZB32W1 series of IEEE 802.15.4 ZigBee®RF modules based on the STM32W108CU6 microcontroller that integrates a 32-bit ARM®Cortex™ - M3 microprocessor and a 2.4 GHz, IEEE 802.15.4 radio.
The STEVAL-IDZ30xV1 kit allows testing the performance of the RF, the features of the protocol libraries defined for the microcontroller, and prototyping the target application. The kit includes a development board and a software library that can be integrated in the structure of the packages available from the ST website for ZigBee PRO, Zigbee RF4CE and simplified MAC of the STM32W108 microcontroller family.
