  • Segger introduces J-Link firmware for embedded STM32 debug solution

    The on-board ST-Link debugger and programmer  in STM32 development boards (Discovery, Nucleo) can be upgraded with Segger J-Link firmware to take advantage of a professional debug solution featuring high Flash programming speed, unlimited number of breakpoints in Flash memory, and real-time system analysis with Segger SystemView.
    The free J-Link firmware offers compatibility with all major toolchains, on all major host platforms (Windows®, Linux, OS X®).

  • Dissipate even less power with new intelligent power modules
    ST extends its offer of IGBT intelligent power modules with new SLLIMM-nano 2nd series devices (3 A and 5 A current rating at 25 °C, with 600 V breakdown voltage) that add higher power levels and new package options especially suited to increasing motor efficiency and reducing cost.
    The new devices implement the complete interface between a low-power MCU and a mains-powered 3-phase electric motor in domestic appliances and low-power motors working up to 20 kHz in hard-switching circuits in an application power range up to 200 W.

  • AEC-Q101-qualified 40 V STripFET F7 MOSFETs for high performance, cost-effective motor control designs
    Available in the H2PAK 2- and 6-lead package respectively, ST’s STH410N4F7-2AG and STH410N4F7-6AG 40 V AEC-Q101-qualified MOSFETs are optimized for motor control 3-phase inverter applications such as electronic power steering (EPS).
    They combine an extremely low RDS(on) with a reduced Miller capacitance (thanks to a sophisticated double-electrode gate structure), a low Crss/Ciss ratio and a very efficient intrinsic body diode for excellent EMI performance.

  • Evaluate our high brightness, RGB LED array driver system with local dimming and diagnostics
    The STEVAL-ILL073V1 evaluation board is a 16 RGB LED matrix solution driven by three ALED1642GW LED drivers, one for each RGB channel, controlled by an STM8A MCU SPI interface. The on-board A7986A DC-DC converter, accepting standard adapter input voltages, provides the voltages and power for the overall board operation.
    The STEVAL-ILL073V1 includes a USB-UART daughterboard bridge for communication with a PC and is also equipped with jumpers to simulate LED open circuit and LED short circuit faults, and a 4-pin SWIM connector to debug and to develop the STM8 firmware.

    Linux fans can now develop software for STM32 MCUs free of charge without leaving their favorite host environment. Indeed, the entire STM32 software development environment is available for Linux.
    Our configuration and initialization code generator STM32CubeMX runs on Linux with versions 4.13 and higher, the AC6 System Workbench for STM32 (SW4STM32) with versions 1.6 and higher. SW4STM32 includes a modified version of the open-source project OpenOCD that gives access to our ST-LINK/V2 debugging tool under Linux.

  • Serial I²C bus RTCs with battery switchover for wearables and handhelds
    ST's M41T83 low-power serial I2C real-time clocks feature a built-in 32.768 kHz oscillator well suited for clocking MCUs during low-power modes as well as a built-in power sense circuit which automatically switches to the battery supply when a power failure occurs.
    Its extended register map ensures a non-volatile, full clock/calendar function as well as 2 alarm interrupts, a watchdog timer, programmable 8-bit counter, and square wave outputs. A perfect choice when size, weight, and power-efficiency matter.

  • 30-GHz bandwidth breakthrough ESD protection for USB 3.1
    High-speed differential interfaces such as USB 3.1 (10 Gbit/s) use leading-edge CMOS processes that are very sensitive to electrostatic discharges. For these, ST has designed the ideal ESD protection in the ESDARF02-1BU2CK; providing a robust 8 kV contact- and up to 20 kV air-discharge shield, inside a 0.18 mm² package, 0.28-mm thick. Its 30-GHz operating bandwidth guarantees a high level of signal integrity.

  • New 600 and 650 V MOSFETs with integrated fast-recovery body diode
    ST has extended its offering of MDmesh DM2 MOSFETs for industrial applications with the introduction of new high-efficiency 600 and 650 V MOSFETs featuring ultra-low Qg for increased light load efficiency, extremely low Coss/Ciss, very low on-state resistance and high dv/dt ruggedness. Ideal for full-bridge and half-bridge topologies, these new devices also feature a very low recovery charge (Qrr) and recovery time (trr).

    LIS2DS12A 14-bit 3-axis digital accelerometer with a digital I2C/SPI interface, the LIS2DS12 features a selectable full-scale acceleration range of ±2/±4/±8/±16 g and can measure accelerations with output data rates from 1 to 6400 Hz, with a resolution from 10 to 14 bits.
    Able to generate interrupts upon detection of free-fall events, 6D orientation, tap and double-tap sensing, activity or inactivity, and wake-up events, applications will also benefit from its power consumption as low as 2.5 µA in Low-power mode (1 Hz) and 150 µA in High-resolution mode (6.4 kHz).

  • 4-ball WLSCP EEPROM with multiple I2C addresses and software write-protect designed for camera modules
    ST extends its 4-ball WLCSP EEPROM family with software write-protect feature with now 2 different internally-hard-wired device select codes. Devices such as front and rear camera modules can now have their own 4-pin EEPROM connected on the same bus. The dedicated write-protect instruction locks a quarter, half or full EEPROM memory area and keeps your programmed settings safe. For enhanced security, an irreversible lock feature is also available. The SWP 4-ball I2C series gives design flexibility offering 32-, 64-, and 128-Kbit devices with the same pin assignment and ball pitch.

  • Major upgrade for SPC5Studio now available
    The SPC5Studio v.4.0 software development framework for 32-bit automotive MCUs is ready !
    It has a new look and feel, a free GCC compiler, full low-level driver support (RLA) for SPC56 lines, more than 170 code examples, a modular installation approach and a comprehensive set of documents and collaterals.
    The new user interface makes it easier and more intuitive to create an application, configure it and navigate through the generated source code. Code, Makefile, ELF and doc generation in XML technologies are easily exportable to other development environments.

    The ESDA13P70-1U1M is a TVS designed to provide a robust 12 V protection against overvoltages coming from mains, car chargers or electrostatic discharges.
